    Greetings Ritchen Families!

Between November 14th - 17th we will be conducting Parent-Teacher Conferences, during which your child’s teacher will be reviewing with you your child’s progress since the start of the school year and providing you with your child’s trimester report card.  Since these conferences are only 4 weeks away, now would be a great time for you to support your child by talking to him/her about any missing work they might have, setting academic goals for them at home, and ensuring he/she is dedicating time each day to complete assignments and study for tests.  Taking time to read every day is also very important as our students (especially in grades 2-5) are working towards meeting their Accelerated Reader goals.  Thank you for all that you do to support your child and our school.  Happy October!

    Happy Fall!

October’s a busy month for us. We will be highlighting our Random Acts of Kindness by recognizing Red Ribbon Week, and Unity Day. This year’s RRW campaign is “My future is Bright.” RRW celebrates the importance of making good/healthy choices. Classrooms will touch on the importance of being aware of the dangers of unsafe choices ( drugs and alcohol), and focus on the positive impact of making good choices which leads to a BRIGHT future! Our Unity day is about coming together in Kindness and acceptance of all students. We hope that families continue this conversation at home. Our Student leaders will be passing out Kindness coins throughout the month. Teachers will continue to submit RAK notes. Kindness Matters here @ Ritchen! ~Mrs. Almstrom

Fall is here! With the colder days, come colder nights, and with colder nights, comes tough mornings! Here are some strategies to ensure that mornings go smoother this season: have backpacks ready the night before with paperwork signed and homework put away; check the weather for the following day and have an outfit picked out the night before; if you don’t use an alarm, try setting one up at least 15 minutes earlier than your usual wake-up time. As your Outreach Coordinator, I am here to serve you if there is anything I can be of assistance with!
