Clerk Jarely Lopez
Area 2 | Term 2022 - 2026
Jarely Lopez (she/her/ella) is an education and international development enthusiast raised in Oxnard, CA. She attended McKinna Elementary, Christa McAuliffe Elementary, and Fremont Middle School. Thanks to her educators, her passion for learning, security, social equality, the environment, and civic engagement began. After graduating from Oxnard High School, Jarely received her B.A. in Geography, with a minor in Lusophone studies, from Dartmouth College. Her love for teaching and learning was exercised through various positions, such as a teaching fellow for a sociology course, an English teacher to dairy farmers and middle schoolers, and an assistant to the curriculum developer of the Young African Leaders Initiative. Ultimately, these experiences led her to support, empower, and elevate student achievement in Oxnard.
She is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Oxnard School District.

Trustee Monica Madrigal Lopez
Area 4 | Term 2020 - 2024
Born and raised in the City of Oxnard, Monica Madrigal Lopez represents Area 4 of the Oxnard School District. She is a product of the public schools in Oxnard, having attended Lemonwood Elementary School, Robert J. Frank Middle School and Channel Islands High School. Monica holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Spanish and a Master of Science in Counseling and Guidance with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential, all from California Lutheran University. For the past ten years Monica has worked at Cal Lutheran for a federally funded TRIO Program, Student Support Services (SSS); she currently serves as an Academic Counselor. SSS works with students who are first‐generation, income qualified and students with a disability. As a first‐generation student, she benefited from this program while in college and also benefited from TRIO Upward Bound while in high school. TRIO programs have allowed her to give back to the community that gave her many opportunities.
This position as a trustee has allowed Monica to give back to the city and schools that have molded her to be the individual she is today. Monica believes that education is an essential piece in every child’s life. It is important that every student is accounted for and that every student has the opportunity to succeed academically in a safe and comfortable environment. Monica is honored and humbled to serve her community and to be a voice for all students in the Oxnard School District.
