    Intra-District Transfer (Within Oxnard School District)

    Terms and Conditions

    This application is for Oxnard School District RESIDENTS ONLY. One Intradistrict Transfer Application will be permitted per school year. If the student has never attended a school in Oxnard School District, and has no siblings currently attending a school in Oxnard School District, PROOF OF RESIDENCE is required. Approval or denial of the intradistrict transfer is based upon space available at the requested school/grade level/program. Pursuant to CA Education Code 48356, Oxnard School District may deny an intradistrict transfer for cause, including lack of space as well as adverse financial impact. Once approved, an intradistrict transfer will not need to be renewed for continued enrollment at the school of attendance; however, an intradistrict transfer may be revoked based upon poor attendance or behavior. In such cases, the family will receive a written warning prior to the intradistrict transfer being revoked by the Superintendent or Designee. Information regarding the Intradistrict Transfer process can be found at the Oxnard School District Board of Education Administrative Regulation 5116.1.

    Intradistrict Transfer for the Current School Year

    Families residing within Oxnard School District who wish to attend another Oxnard School District for the current school year, may submit an intradistrict transfer application (see below for application) at any time during the school year. Intradistrict transfer applications for the current school year will receive a response from Oxnard School District within 30 calendar days. Intradistrict Transfer Applications will be accepted based upon current space availability at the school site/grade level/program. If space is not available at the requested school site/grade level/program, placement at another school site with space available will be offered. If the parent declines placement at an alternative school site within Oxnard School District, the application will be denied based upon lack of space available at the requested school site.

    Intradistrict Transfer for the 2019-2020 School Year

    The Intradistrict Transfer Window for 2018-2019 is Jan. 22 - Feb. 28, 2019. Applications for Oxnard School District families to attend a school other than the resident school within Oxnard School District must be received in the Oxnard School District Enrollment Center within this timeframe.

    Intradistrict Transfer Applications received within the Transfer Window will receive a placement notification by May 31, 2019. Intradistrict Transfer Applications are approved based upon space availability at a school site/grade level/program. Applications are given priority based upon Oxnard School District Board Administrative Regulation 5116.1. If the number of intradistrict transfer applications for a particular school site/grade level/program exceeds the number of spaces available, the District will conduct a random lottery within the priority class pursuant to CA Education Code 48356 in order to identify applicants to attend until all spaces are filled. Applications received outside the posted window will be approved on a case by case basis and based upon current space availability at the school site and grade level.

    Inter-District Transfer (Outside Oxnard School District)

    Terms and Conditions

    Parents of students who reside outside of Oxnard School District boundaries who wish to attend a school within Oxnard School District will need to complete an Interdistrict Transfer Agreement. This form must be obtained from and submitted to your local school district of residence for approval to leave your district of residence. Oxnard School District cannot process applications unless and until the district of residence approves departure. Once parent/guardian obtains signed approval to leave the district of residence, the Interdistrict Transfer Agreement form should be submitted to the Oxnard School District Enrollment Center. Oxnard School District Pupil Services personnel will contact parent/guardian if additional documentation is required. Parents/guardians will be contacted by e-mail or U.S. mail when Interdistrict Transfers have been approved to attend Oxnard School District. Applications submitted within the posted window will be approved based upon Oxnard School District Board Administrative Regulation 5117.

    The Ventura County Districts agree that once the Ventura County Districts sign the Agreement for a particular pupil, the district of residence will not be required to sign the Agreement for that pupil for the subsequent 4 school years. By signing the Agreement in Year 1, the district of residence intends to release the student from attendance in that district for 5 school years or until student matriculates to the next level of schooling. Once approved by the receiving district, agreements are valid for the applied level of school until the student matriculates to the next level (moves from elementary school to middle school) or unless the student violates terms of the approved permit (attendance and behavior).

    Parents of students who reside within Oxnard School District who wish to attend a school outside Oxnard School District should obtain an Interdistrict Transfer Application from the Oxnard School District Enrollmennt Center. Once completed, the Application will need to be submitted to the Enrollment Center. If approved for transfer out of Oxnard School District, you may then submit the Application to the desired district of attendance. Please consult with the desired district to obtain information regarding their timeline for acceptance of Interdistrict Transfer Applications.

    Interdistrict Transfer for the Current School Year

    Families residing outside Oxnard School District who wish to attend Oxnard School District for the current school year, may submit an interdistrict transfer application (see below for application) at any time during the school year. Interdistrict transfer applications for the current school year will recieve a response from Oxnard School District within 30 calendar days. Interdistrict Transfer Applications will be accepted based upon space available at the school site/grade level/program. If space is not available at the requested school site/grade level/program, placement at another school site with space available will be offered. If the parent declines placement at an alternative school site within Oxnard School District, the application will be denied based upon lack of space available at the requested school site.

    Interdistrict Transfer for 2019-2020

    The Interdistrict Transfer Window for 2019-2020 is Feb. 1 - 28, 2019. Applications to attend Oxnard School District from another district of residence must be received in the Oxnard School District Enrollment Center within this timeframe.

    Transfers into a school within Oxnard School District are processed after Intradistrict Transfers for in-district students have been completed. Some Oxnard schools may be impacted at certain grade levels and may have sizeable wait lists. If space is not available at the requested school site / grade level, placement at another school site with space available will be offered. If the parent declines placement at an alternative school site within Oxnard School District, the application will be denied based upon lack of space available at the requested school site.

    It may not be known if space is available for your child until after the first day of school. In ALL cases you will receive a response via e-mail or U.S. Mail within 14 days after the commencement of the school year.

    Inter-District Transfer Application

    Appeals

    Parents have the right to appeal the denial of an inter-district transfer application to the Ventura County Board of Education. The appeal must be received by the Ventura County Office of Education within 30 days. Failure to appeal witthin the requried time is good cause for rejection of an appeal pursuant to CA Education Code Section 46600.2.  Information about appealing the denial of an inter-district transfer can be found at:
