Meal Distribution Update

Oxnard School District continues to be committed to feeding children during the school closures. Child Nutrition Services is conducting meal distribution of prepared meals, FREE of charge for community children.

UPDATE** Effective Wednesday, January 13, 2021 ALL sites will be open to service our families.  Site operation hours for pick up will be Wednesdays only, from  9am – 3pm.  In addition, evening hours will be offered at Lemonwood, McKinna, Frank and Fremont, where these sites will remain open until 5:30pm.  Children do not need to be present during food pick up.

Pantry Style Kits will include a variety of frozen entrees and whole, bulk style items such as loaf of bread, dry pasta, deli meats and cheeses, eggs, and yogurt. In addition, bulk portions of produce such as head of lettuce, crown of broccoli, whole melon, whole fruits, pint of orange juice, and a gallon of milk are included (menu is subject to change, products vary by season and availability).

Supplies are limited and all meals will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.  To provide meals to as many families as possible, sites may limit the number of boxes issued to each family.

2021 USDA regulations will now require Child Nutrition Services to record meal participation per child. Parents will be asked to indicate the child’s name and birthday upon receipt of each pantry kit. The District will verify that only one pantry kit is given per child. We are encouraging families to pre-register for their pick up site. Place orders by 12noon Tuesday for Wednesday pick up.

Click here to pre-register for your meal pick up site!

There will be no congregate feeding; all food is to be taken and consumed offsite. For food safety purposes, all food taken off campus should be immediately stored in refrigeration until food is consumed.  Foods not consumed within 5 days should be discarded.

As a reminder, please observe social distancing and maintain a distance of 6 feet apart when waiting in line for meal bags.  While in the meal line, we require for everyone’s safety, that all people wear face covering over their nose and mouth.
