Oxnard Scholars Mission Statement
The ASES program will support the OSD mission by helping students develop 21st Century Skills through activities which promote communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity, supporting the development specific strand of each site.
The Oxnard School District contracts with the City of Oxnard to provide the After School Program at each of the 20 (twenty) school sites. The program is referred to as the Oxnard Scholars. The programs receive funds through the State of California After School Education and Safety (ASES) grant. The ASES program allows a limited number of students to participate free of charge in an after school program consisting of academic and enrichment activities. The programs are educational and fun and include a daily complimentary snack. Programs are offered Monday through Friday from school dismissal and fro a minimum of three hours (generally until 6:00 p.m.) Participating students must attend each school day and for a minimum number of hours each week.
