Social-Emotional and Behavior Support Framework (SEBS)
Vision
The District envisions an educational community where every student and adult experiences belonging, wellness, and growth within a culture of psychological safety, connection, cultural responsiveness, and care, creating the conditions for everyone to learn, contribute, and thrive.
Mission
The SEBS Framework builds a foundation of support for the adults who support our students.
We strengthen adult capacity through psychological safety, cultural competence, self-awareness and regulation, co-regulation, trusting relationships, communication, collaboration, and aligned systems so adults are supported to understand behavior, respond to individual needs, and create safe, culturally responsive, relationship-centered environments.
When we support adults, we strengthen their capacity to support students, creating the conditions necessary for belonging, wellness, and growth for all.
The Five Framework Areas
Psychological Safety
Creating environments where people feel safe to speak, ask questions, take risks, learn, and grow.
Safety is the foundation for awareness and effective communication.
When people feel safe, they can be open, curious, and reflective.
Candor
Understanding that trust requires honest, respectful, and courageous conversations.
Trust behaviors build relationships.
Candor creates transparency and strengthens teams.
Role Clarity
Recognizing how our individual and collective responsibilities support students, families, and one another.
Clear roles reduce confusion.
Clarity strengthens collaboration and responsiveness.
Behavior, Communication & Connection
Exploring how behavior, communication, and relationships are influenced by emotional safety, regulation, and perception.
Behavior communicates need.
Our nervous systems and paradigms influence how we see, interpret, and respond.
Emotional safety impacts whether people become defensive or reflective in relationship with each other.
System Alignment
Understanding that sustainable change happens when our practices, language, and actions work together.
Shared language creates consistency.
Aligned systems sustain safety, trust, and belonging.
Belonging & Growth for All
Our shared commitment to safety, trust, and alignment creates conditions where all people can belong and grow.
The SEE–DO–GET Model
Safety, Trust, and Alignment in Action
Adapted from Stephen R. Covey’s See–Do–Get Model.
The SEE–DO–GET Model helps us understand how our beliefs, awareness, and interpretations influence our actions—and how those actions shape the experiences and outcomes of students, families, and colleagues.
SEE Paradigm / how we see
Our paradigms, assumptions, awareness, perspectives, and interpretations.
CASEL connection
Self-Awareness + Social Awareness
Self-Awareness — Recognizing my thoughts, emotions, biases, and values.
Social Awareness — Understanding others’ perspectives, experiences, and cultures.
Context Awareness — Noticing the situation, environment, and dynamics.
?What am I noticing in myself, others, and the situation?
DO Behavior / what we do
Our regulation, communication, relationships, decisions, and practices.
CASEL connection
Self-Management + Relationship Skills
Self-Management — Regulating emotions, managing stress, staying focused, and making intentional choices.
Relationship Skills (Listen) — Listening actively and with empathy.
Relationship Skills (Communicate) — Communicating clearly, respectfully, and with curiosity.
Relationship Skills (Build & Respond) — Building positive relationships and responding with care and respect.
?How do I regulate, listen, communicate, and respond?
GET Results / what we get
The impact of our actions on trust, belonging, psychological safety, learning, behavior, and outcomes.
CASEL connection
Responsible Decision-Making
Making thoughtful, equitable decisions based on what we understand together, considering multiple perspectives and the well-being of all.
?How does what we understand together inform what we decide and do next?
What we SEE influences what we DO. What we DO shapes what we GET—and what others GET from us.
