Special Education Department
Curren School serves students with a variety of academic needs and learning styles. The special education department at Curren strives to support each and every student in its care to meet their unique educational needs as delineated in their Individualized Education Plans. Currently, we have students in the resource specialist program who concurrently learn through both the general education setting as well as in the specialized academic instruction setting. Additionally, Curren houses an autism program that is comprised of three self-contained special day classrooms that utilize strategies effective with students with autism including visual structure, positive behavior support and priming. Our special education students have opportunities to integrate with the larger school community during lunch, recess, PE and school events. Curren School is lucky to have such a diverse community of students and hopes to foster their growth so that they meet their maximum potential for academic success.
