Confidence Johnson began her interest in education while completing her undergraduate degree at Xavier University of Louisiana in Spanish. She was given the opportunity to teach the local preschool students Spanish. In 1996, New Orleans' demographic did not encompass a high community of Spanish speaking families therefore Mrs. Johnson was eager to provide this service. After completing her Bachelor's degree, she returned home to California in the summer of 1997 covering a long term substitute assignment at St. Francis Cabrini of Los Angeles. She was able to remain on staff for 3 years then sought employment in the public school system. Hawthorne School District hired Mrs. Johnson as a 4th grade instructor where she remained there for 14 years also as a third grade instructor and Literacy Coach. In 2013, Bellflower Unified School District offered Confidence to join their administrative staff as the Elementary Assistant Principal servicing two Title I sites. After the completing her second year as assistant principal, she was promoted to Principal of Stephen Foster Elementary in Lakewood, CA. She served that community as principal for 3 years before joining Oxnard School District. Mrs. Johnson is happy to be part of the OSD family.
